Look, an incredibly late blog post.

We were both crazy tired last night, so no blog post was written. I was going to skip it, but I decided to write one real fast to talk about this weekend. We’ve decided we’re going to go hang out on Saturday at the Steampunk World’s Fair in Piscatway, NJ.  It’s close to home, and we’ve had friends rave about how much fun it is. So, if you’re in the area, you should come check it out. We can all hang out and party down.

Hey, so if you think this strip looks a bit odd… yeah, you’d be right. I’ve been practicing with two different pens a lot lately, and I thought I’d give them both a try. I definitely like the first one, a Zebra Brush I recently received from Bobby Timony at the Super Wildpig Show. It’s smooth, and has great line weight variance.

The second two panels were done with my Pentel PocketBrush, which does not seem to work as well. I used that one to do the Calvin and Hobbes homage a couple weeks ago, and it worked better for that strip than this one. I’m going to have to figure out why that is before I use it to ink again.

Until then, probably going to stick to the Zebra for now. Thanks, Bobby!

Sorry we threw you all for a loop this past week.

Seems some people were having a hard time wrapping their head around the idea of Todd and Robyn hooking up again. Don’t worry, we’ll be exploring that in strips to come. I find half the fun of this strip is finding out why the characters do what they do. I’m sure we’ll find out sooner or later.

I decided I’d write a blog post tonight because I think poor Bill is about ready to pass out. Next week’s vacation can’t come soon enough for him. Our weekend was pretty exhausting, but more so for poor Bill. He helped carry, set up, and carry some more, a whole lot of long boxes full of comics.

The Super WildPig show was awesome, and we both had a blast. We sold some books, Bill did a ton of sketches and we got to meet some readers. Plus, we got to see the Avengers with some of our favorite people, and that was amazing. Win-win all around.

Also, the books came in on Friday. We’ve got about 30 cases sitting in our kitchen right now. They haven’t made it to the basement quite yet. Our muscles and backs are still recuperating from the weekend of longboxes. All the incentives came in on Monday, and I’ve slowly been putting together the sketch card sets. Up next will be making the buttons. I’m hoping next week I’ll be able to start packing up boxes and we’ll slowly start shipping the product out. Once we get through all the Kickstarter orders, then we’ll be setting up a store so you can purchase the book if you haven’t yet. I just want to make sure all the Kickstarter stuff goes out before we get more orders in.

I just got done helping load up all the books and supplies for The Super Wild Pig Show on Saturday and Sunday, and boy are my arms tired.

Seriously, I can barely stay awake to type this.

The fully shaded strip will be up first thing, as soon as I wake up. Have a great Friday, and I hope to see you at Super Wild Pig! It’s going to be crazy fun this spring.

Dani forgot to write a blog post! Ah, I forgive her. She did a huge amount of work, mostly in preparation for shipping out all these books and incentives you might have heard us talking about over the past couple months. But, in the interest of revenge, please tweet “Bill is very disappointed” to @DaniMOBrien. Mwa ha ha.

Ah, but isn’t it always the way? There’s a catch. Because Dani and I are far more involved in the preparation for this convention than other shows, it’s going to be eating up our weekend. If humanly possible, we’ll be posting a strip on Monday, but just in case, we’re calling it now:

The normal schedule will resume on Wednesday. I realize we’ve been putting up a lot of filler strips lately, and I’d rather get back in the habit of not just regular updates, but having those strips be relevant to the storyline. You’ve all been so patient while we’ve been putting out the book, and I want to reward that patience.

Hey Everyone,

Sorry we were so quiet last week. We’ve been busy gearing up for the book release and the wedding of the real life Gavin. Yes, the real life Gavin, our friend Myke, got married on Friday night and Bill was the best man. We all had a great time at the wedding and Bill rocked his best man speech. Let me tell you, you haven’t been to a wedding until you see groomsmen burst into a room wearing luchador masks running around the bride before the garter belt toss.

We wish Myke and Laura a happy future. We love you, Buddy.

Speaking of the book, barring any kind of apocalyptic circumstance, we should have the books in our hands on Friday afternoon, just in time for the Super WIldpig Show. We haven’t spoken much about this show, and I feel awful about that. The Super Wildpig Show is run by our very close friend and will be a blast. Not only will everything be 50% off, he’s going to have tens of thousands of 50 cent comic books. (They cost fifty cents, they’re not about rappers. – Bill) I’m not kidding when I say tens of thousands. I know, because at the moment, most of them are in our basement. He’s been filing away, putting new stock in and putting boxes in order so everything is alphabetical.

If you are in the Jersey area, you should go. Not only will you get amazing deals, but you’ll be one of the first to get your hands on our book, since we’ll be debuting it there. Trust me, it’s going to be an awesome time. Plus, the Saturday night after party will be at my dad’s bar. If you go, you might recognize it as the bar in the strip, and you’ll get to come hang out with us. It’s a win-win situation.
