I’m not buying that they’re ALL okay with the story situation. I mean, I can see that they’d all have their reasons not to be offended: Todd, sure, being oblivious and laid-back. Jason being pissed upset at the discovery of the fling more than his own exploitation in the blog, Dee and Gavin happily shacked-up with the drama long settled. Of all of them, Robyn seems the least likely to forgive and forget without even a shrug. I’d be a little let down if all the build-up and Karen’s anxiety simply resulted in a unanimous “It’s all good.”
Even if the plan is for the actual show to be humiliating hyperbole when it airs, it’s not really satisfying. And if the plan was to work up some dust between Jason and Robyn, why spend half a dozen strips on Karen conflicted and frazzled? I’ve had my pessimistic expectations defied for the better in other comics, I hope this is another case.
<3! Karen's a damned genius, if you ask me…
Woah lotl pull it back buddy I sorta get what you’re saying but it’s not uncommon for tv shows and movies to feature characters and experiences that are autobiographical to the writer and his/her friends and how many people do you know who blog about their friends it’s a common thing these days so I’d say Robyns reaction is pretty realistic. Besides if it does get made into a show only a handful of people will actually know what’s going on so it’s not worth losing a friendship over I think that’s the angle Dani and Bill are going for
I’m not saying Robyn should be extremely upset, but that she – out of the whole cast – seems the most likely to be angry with Karen. I just point her out because she’s featured in this strip. It’s just a bit anticlimactic at this point, after we’ve had several strips focusing on Karen’s anxiety and then a big cliff-hanger moment when she walks in on her friends reading her blog, for everyone to simply shrug it off without a second thought. Maybe the point is that sometimes we get jittery over little things that don’t matter much in the end. If so, I’m not sure that point was written so well.
Again, I’m not saying that Robyn SHOULD be upset, only that someone ought to be, given the buildup, and Robyn makes the most sense for that.
For some reason (fatigue? distraction by shiny object?) I saw panel 3 before panel 2, so for a moment it looked like Robyn was drinking out of the watering can with a straw.
