A couple notes before Dani’s super-long Comic Review blog…
Wild Pig Con is less than a month away! I’m excited! YOU should be excited!
Also, I made Squirrel Girl artwork for charity (thanks, Ms. Corsetto, for the suggestion!). If you’re in the NJ area, check out Comic Fusion’s Super Hero Day and support SAFE in Hunterdon!
That’s all from me!

So this blog post was written last week, but never ended up getting used. There was a mix-up and it ended up posting for about and hour and then got removed and then never got used. Until now.
It’s mostly a really long post with me reviewing some more comics. I’ll hopefully have read the rest of the 52 over the weekend, so I’ll try and have some more reviews on Monday.
And remember, we’ve got 2 tickets that we are trying to get rid of for the Nerdist Podcast on Oct 14 at 10pm. 50 for the pair. If you are interested in them, email me at allnewissues(@)gmail.com.
So, in no particular order, here are some more Dani Reviews 52.
Batman- Buy, Buy, Buy, Buy, Buy!
Holy Crap! If every book was as good as this book, the 52 relaunch
would have been phenomenal. Seriously, if you like Batman, have a
minimal interest, or once heard there was this guy named Batman, go buy
it. It’s incredibly good. It’s the Batman book you want, you need, in
your life. I was blown away by it. So friggin’ good. I will be buying
this trade for my bookshelf.
Wonder Woman- Buy
I dug this Wonder Woman book. It was a fun, solid read and I would read
it monthly in digital format. Plus, Cliff Chiang artwork. What’s not
to love?
Batwoman- Buy
I absolutely loved the Rucka storyline that was written for Detective
awhile ago, with JH Williams on art. And this is a continuation of
that. The story isn’t as solid as Rucka’s, but Williams artwork more
then makes up for it all. It’s absolutely breathtaking. And if anyone
can explain to me why Batwoman is so friggin’ white, I’d love to know.
Nightwing- Buy
Ok, this is where I’m absolutely biased. This book could probably be
complete crap and I’d say Buy, I love Nightwing, I love Dick Grayson.
This book makes me happy, and it was pretty good. Now, I’ll admit I
didn’t read Dick as Batman, but that’s mostly because I was hoping DC
would put this stuff out into trade. I’m really not a single issue
fan. Chances are, these books are getting sold after I’m doing reading
them.
Demon Knight-Buy
This book was so much fun. I’ve heard it reads like a D&D adventure,
and from my limited knowledge of that game, I’d agree. It was fantasy
and it was fun. I loved this book. I will absolutely buy this on a
monthly basis. (I really need to buy an iPad and stat)
Green Lantern-Borrow/Buy
Ok, I know nothing about Green Lantern. I read Blackest Night, but
that’s mostly because I loved the promotion of all the rings. (I own
them all) Blackest Night was fun, but I didn’t really understand it
much. Now, taking all that into consideration, I liked Green Lantern.
It was a fun read. Sure, I know the bare basics, but I still enjoyed
it. Would I buy it to keep reading it, probably not. But that’s mostly
because I don’t have an attachment to this character in any way, and
it deals with space stuff. Not a huge fan of the space books.
Batman and Robin- Borrow
Don’t get me wrong, this book was decent. I just have a hard time
accepting this Damian kid as Robin. I mean sure, Dick Grayson is
Nightwing and he hasn’t been Robin in years, but I still think of him
as the ultimate Robin. Plus, I don’t like the idea of Bruce Wayne
having a son. And when I really think about it. It’s kinda creepy that
he lets his 10 year old son go out and fight crime. But putting that
aside, the dynamic was great between them and it was a good read.
Frankly, Batman is the one Batman book I want to read, but if you are
a Batman fan, it’s worth your attention.
Suicide Squad- Pants
(So my last review had a mistake in it. I said Gail Simone had written
and older Suicide Squad series and some one corrected me. I was
getting her Secret Six book confused with Suicide Squad.) I didn’t
like the book. At all.
Superboy-Buy
Ok, I am shocked that I enjoyed this book. I’ve never had a thing for
Superboy. Frankly, I don’t know much about him. But there was
something about this that I really enjoyed. I would absolutely follow
this book in digital format. It was a lot of fun and intrigued me.
Red Lantern- Pants
What is with all the blood? Am I the only one who’s noticing all the
violence in these books. I dig that the Red Lanterns are about rage,
but really. It was just a big red infused blood bath of a book. Just
not my cup of tea.
(The Red Lanterns shoot blood! That’s their power! They are like angry,
cosmic horny-toads! – Bill)
Frankenstein Agent of SHADE- Borrow
This book was fun, just not something I’d pay money to read. If you
dig the old movie monsters, then it’s definitely a book you want to
check out. I can see why people were diggin’ on it, it just wasn’t a
big deal for me.
Resurrection Man- Pants/Borrow
Now, this book wasn’t awful, it just wasn’t something that really
grabbed me. I can’t completely pants it, because I’m sorta intrigued by
where it’s going. But not enough that I’d want to spend money on it to
see what happens. But if someone happened to have the trade lying
around, I’d give it a read through to see where it goes.
Legion Lost- Pants
I didn’t get this book at all. It left me, well, lost. I didn’t
understand what was going on and it didn’t leave me wanting to know
more. I’m curious if you are a Legion fan if this book made more
sense, because I’ve never read a Legion comic in my life.
I’ll have more on Monday

Yeeee you drew Squirrel Girl!! Yeeeee!! <3
Probably not what you intended, but this comes really close after Steve Jobs’ death. Must have been a hard and worrying choice to continue the plot line anyway.
@Djorra We thought about that, but on the other hand, felt it was very clear that nobody was ever talking about Steve Jobs in these strips, and altering the course of the storyline would have been more awkward than to continue it. We’re definitely not poking fun at the death of Steve Jobs, we were just considering something wacky for Jason and Todd to respond to.
